Label Portfolio

  • What is your quantity? Long run jobs are typically run on Flexo presses, whereas short run jobs are produced more cost effectively on a digital press.
  • How many colors? If you need labels printed in only one or two ink colors, Flexo printing may offer the more cost-effective solution. If you need four-color printing, or have many versions of labels, digital printing offers advantages in lower up-front costs because no plates are required for printing.
  • What’s your turnaround? If you need it fast, digital usually offers quicker delivery.

Please create all art in vector format. Select “create outlines” in Illustrator (.eps files). All text should be flattened in outline form.
Photoshop and comparable raster-based programs often yield jagged or fuzzy edges. Where possible, text should be build from solid colors as opposed to CMYK. Please let us know if you plan to use white ink in your design. We will advise if this is the case.

Images and all placed graphics should be embedded. Linked image will not be compatible with our processes. Embedded images should also be sized at 300 DPI for best results.

Bleeds allow for ink coverage to extend to the very edge of a label. The die cut shape should be overlapped by around 1/16” to allow for full coverage.

Gradient and four color process work should be a minimum dot of 2%. Gradients with a soft graduation down to 1% can end in a hard line. Drop shadows should be built out of black only, and not 4-color process.

New Creation will be responsible for setting all traps.

Barcodes vary in symbology. As a general rule UPC barcodes should be 85 – 120% for best results with quiet (blank) space of 1/8” on either side of the barcode. We recommend printing barcodes in 100% black, on a white background. Printing barcodes in a colored ink will affect how well they scan. It is up to the customer to verify that UPC codes are correct. New Creation can create your barcode and verify its ability to scan.

Carefully check all artwork for spelling or typing mistakes before you send it.

After artwork is set, New Creation will email you a PDF proof for review and approval.
